HAMPTONVILLE — Just before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday an NC Highway Patrolman was involved in a crash on US 421. According to Highway Patrol, Trooper J. R. Weatherman was traveling south on US421 and collided with the rear of a passenger vehicle operated by Lilia Porter, 65, of Wilkesboro.
After impact, the patrol vehicle came to rest in the center median and the passenger vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.
The trooper was not injured in the incident, and Ms. Porter was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Neither of the involved vehicles had passengers on board.
The collision remains under investigation at this time.
