World’s first blockchain-based water market to start in Australia later this year

The world’s first blockchain-based water market will start in Australia later this year. The goal of this project is to protect access to water amid rising water security fears. The Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia (CRCNA) is partnering with Civic Ledger, in order to sustain fair access to water and maintain an efficient supply chain.

Civic Ledger uses blockchain solutions to provide transparency for water management. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Brisbane, Civic Leger has teams across Asia and Europe, as well as the rest of the Australasian continent and will soon be opening in the USA.

As the world’s first blockchain-based platform for the management and trading of water, Water Ledger is a publicly verifiable system, used to advance water management and water trading.
